Lots of pets have been pretty cooped up and less active because of our cold weather. It has been so cold that it has actually been unsafe for pets to spend much time outside. Unfortunately because of this inactivity, lots of dogs will put on weight that may be hard to take off. Most brands of food have a lighter formula for those times of inactivity. You can also decrease calories in your dog's diet by taking some kibble out of his ration and supplement with canned or fresh green beans or carrots. The more careful you can be to avoid weight gain this winter the better shape your dog will be in this coming spring. You can stop in any time for weight checks!
